On 16 October, the industry’s first AM LED group standard — the technical specification for image quality in active-matrix driven LED display — was released, with AET as a contributing author.
The standard was issued by the Mini and Micro LED Display Industry Branch of the China Video Industry Association, and witnessed by AET deputy general manager Liang Wenji and AET executive Chen Shengming.
What the Standard Measures
In plain terms, the specification gives an LED display a health check: it defines how to assess whether the image looks right and reads clearly, concentrating on flicker, colour deviation and the smoothness of brightness transitions.
Active-matrix driving is what makes those transitions natural. A picture goes from dark to light and back smoothly, without a visible jump, and small brightness differences remain visible even in a dark scene — without the flicker that causes fatigue.
As the first standard of its kind, it fills a gap in the standards framework for LED and gives the Mini and Micro LED industry a basis for consistent quality.
AET’s contribution draws on long investment across emitting material, devices, chips, control and driver ICs and panel processes.
