On 15 February the Shenzhen Lighting and Display Engineering Industry Association held its annual meeting in Shenzhen under the theme of building an industrial cluster and a world centre for optoelectronics.
The programme ran five parallel forums, including the ultra-high-definition video display cluster forum, with more than a thousand delegates from industry, government and research. Discussion covered the routes LED display is taking into the metaverse, XR and naked-eye 3D, alongside standards, quality inspection and energy reduction.
AET took three awards: standard application demonstration enterprise for 2022, outstanding co-drafting group for the Mini LED indoor commercial display group standard, and a place in the China LED display industry top 25.
Standard Application Demonstration
“The industry knows AET makes standard products,” an association official said from the stage — a single sentence that covered several years of work.
AET was the first company in the sector to propose a standardised direct-view LED architecture and to deliver standardised product against it. The work has been concentrated on the parts of LED display where standardisation actually changes outcomes: architecture, size, resolution and interface.
In 2022 the company released the T series smart control display terminal, the fifth-generation standard architecture flagship: an independent 1K and 2K display unit with HDMI direct connection, automatic screen linking and plug-in operation.
The commercial argument for standardisation runs in two directions. Upwards, each generation of the architecture makes the products more interchangeable with each other, so a range can be specified and delivered as products rather than as projects. Sideways, a common architecture lets suppliers, integrators and installers plan around shared parts instead of re-tooling per job.
Co-Drafting the Mini LED Standard
Through 2022 AET contributed to the industry’s written standards, taking a substantive drafting role in the Mini LED indoor commercial display group standard, the Mini and Micro LED display industry white paper and the 2022 fine-pitch and micro-pitch display research white paper.
The co-drafting award recognises that work specifically. Writing a standard requires agreeing test methods and tolerances across companies with different processes, which is slower and less visible than product work, and it is the part that makes the market legible to buyers.
Top 25
The year opened with the fourth consecutive Spring Festival Gala, and with a queue of projects in delivery: the first 8K naked-eye 3D screen in southern Sichuan, a large transparent screen, a dome screen and several COB walls.
The company works across smart city, digital government, energy, broadcast, culture and tourism, education, sport, and commercial and creative sectors, and maintains branches or offices in Beijing, Nanjing, Wuhan, Chengdu, Xian, Guangzhou, Changchun and Hong Kong, with a Shenzhen branch and the SFC Shenzhen future-chip subsidiary running manufacturing and terminal application.
