The fourth Global Mini/Micro LED Display Technology Week took place in Zhuhai on 10 and 11 May, bringing together companies from across the supply chain to discuss technology, market conditions and industrial coordination.
AET general manager Zhao Chunlei and deputy general manager Liang Wenji took part in the Micro LED leaders’ dialogue, the direct-view ecosystem session and the innovation application session, and released three group standards.
The Standards
-
Micro LED display general specification, part one: medium and large format displays
-
Quality grading and leader assessment requirements for LED display
-
Technical requirements for Mini LED backlit LCD monitors
What the Micro LED Specification Changes
The document matters because there was no Micro LED display standard anywhere before it.
-
It fills a gap No comparable standard existed domestically or internationally.
-
It defines the chip The industry has used a chip size below 100 micrometres as the working definition of Micro LED without a common basis; the standard settles it.
-
It sets the scope The standard covers medium and large format display requirements and test methods, with work on small wearable and automotive displays to follow.
-
It specifies the whole document Classification, technical requirements, quality inspection, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transport and storage.
Why Standardisation
“AET starts from the pain points,” Zhao said in the leaders’ dialogue. “For direct-view LED to go from large to strong, the missing standards have to be solved. Our position has always been to set standards with the industry and push them, to remove boundaries rather than defend them.”
AET has worked on standardised architecture since it was founded, introduced the new-generation Mini/Micro LED standard architecture, and in 2023 released the T series smart control terminal on the fifth generation of it. Liang Wenji was appointed to the CMMA expert committee at the event.
