In a tropical desert city where the temperature reaches 51°C, what does an outdoor LED screen have to survive?
Heat accelerates lumen depreciation and puts pressure on the cooling system. Years of intense ultraviolet light age the mask. Fine particles carried by dust storms threaten the cooling channels. Every outdoor screen sits an exam it has to pass every day.
AET’s Chasing Light outdoor series has once again returned a high score.
In Kuwait City, AET has lit four sites with the Chasing Light Pro series: a four-screen matrix of nearly 600 m² across the core retail district and the main arterial roads, running stably at 51°C in strong UV and frequent dust.
Four Positions, One Network
The four sites were chosen for commercial value and traffic: the Decathlon side of Marina Mall, the Xcite side of Marina Mall, the communications building in Hawally, and the Darwaza Abdul Razzaq frontage in Sharq. Together they form a dense, high-coverage brand network reaching Gulf consumers directly.
Marina Mall, Decathlon Side
At the main Decathlon entrance of Kuwait City’s most popular waterfront mall, AET deployed a screen 24 m wide and 5.76 m high, close to 200 m².
At P6.67 with brightness above 7,000 nits, the image stays vivid even under the midday sun. Refresh above 3,840 Hz keeps motion advertising free of ghosting.
Marina Mall, Xcite Side
At the Xcite entrance, AET installed a further P6.67 screen of close to 130 m², IP65 rated and specified for −40°C to 70°C, so Kuwait’s summer heat and dust storms are inside its design envelope. Both Marina Mall screens were commissioned and handed over on the same day, which says as much about local delivery capability as about the product.
Hawally Communications Building
In Kuwait’s best-known electronics district, AET built roughly 100 m² of Chasing Light screen on the communications building facade at P8 with refresh above 3,840 Hz. Dual power and dual signal backup keep critical sites running, and the extruded aluminium cabinet dissipates heat well enough to work without air conditioning.
Sharq Arterial Road
In the historic waterfront business district, on the Darwaza Abdul Razzaq frontage, AET built a screen 31.68 m wide and 5.76 m high — close to 200 m², P8, 198 cabinets joined seamlessly, refresh above 3,840 Hz.
Spanning the building, the wall works at a scale that makes it the visual landmark of Sharq. Against dense foot traffic and complex lighting, the high brightness and high protection of the Pro series keep it legible from every angle, all day.
Local Service Behind the Global Footprint
Kuwait is known as the pearl of the Gulf. Under its national vision for 2035 the country is building at speed, and AET’s role is to be locally present: site survey, custom configuration, installation and long-term maintenance, delivered by regional teams and partners.
That capability has been proven across the Middle East — from Saudi Arabia and the UAE to Turkey — and in Kuwait it includes the “Kuwait Eye” outdoor LED sphere at The Avenues Mall.
Outdoor Screens for Extreme Climates
The Chasing Light series supports 10,000 nits and above, IP65 protection, common-cathode efficiency and wide-temperature operation. Contact AET for a site assessment.
