On 23 September, AET held its 2023 supply chain partner quality conference at its Songshan Lake headquarters in Dongguan, with general manager Zhao Chunlei, deputy general managers Liang Wenji, Xu Shubiao, Jin Tao and Tang Yanwen, department heads from the head office and subsidiaries, and representatives of dozens of core suppliers.
The aim was to align procurement and supply chain management with the company’s product strategy, and to bring suppliers onto the same operating rhythm.
Quality First
“The steady development of this company comes from your support and trust,” Zhao said. “We ask everyone to hold to the same principle: quality first, high-standard supply, high-standard delivery.”
He described the product characteristics AET is working to — standardised, differentiated, innovative and low-carbon — and the need to raise supplier management and procurement effectiveness on the back of them.
Managing by Product Line
Liang Wenji set out how supply chain partners work with the product line model: at each stage of planning, development, active sale and end of sale, technical and procurement teams issue different signals, and suppliers need to receive and act on them so that procurement covers the whole product lifecycle.
Yang Changsheng, quality director at DFC, AET’s wholly owned shared manufacturing base in Dongguan, reviewed the year’s cases where supplier and manufacturer solved problems jointly: the principle being to stop a problem at the supply or manufacturing stage so that the customer receives the best product.
Supplier Grading
Procurement director Tang Ping said the company will continue to apply supplier grading, optimise the supplier base and formalise supplier conduct. Suppliers on the stand covered the full chain, and their contribution, she noted, affects everything from display performance to the customer experience.
